She is submissive with our dogs and will get on her back when she's playing. She plays with Missy, our standard poodle, by tugging on her ears and pawing at her face. Missy is fine with it all and they have a good time together. Miles, my mini-poodle mix, would love to play with Mattie but he barks and barks when he wants to play and I think that scares other dogs away. Mattie shies away when he gets too wound up.
Mattie does everything with enthusiasm. She is a bubbly and happy girl who cheerfully follows me throughout the house during the day. At night, she is happy to curl up next to me and snuggle in for a nap. The other night I was watching a little TV in bed and Mattie was sound asleep right next to me. I was so tired I didn't have the energy to get up and put her in the crate for the night so she slept with us. She did wonderfully. She hardly moved all night and stayed about head level. At one point though I felt around for her and found that her head was buried under the covers. I pulled her out so she could get some air but I think she intentionally got under there for some warmth. Very cute.
She does like to chew so we have lots of chew toys in the house. Two days ago she followed me into the bathroom when I was getting something. I walked out of the bathroom and she followed not far behind. However, I caught a glimpse of something white out of the corner of my eye. I turned to see what it was and I saw Mattie carrying the end of a roll of toilet paper. She was so happy with herself and trotted over to the dog bed with her catch. I told her "no" but was laughing inside. I then t tried to roll the 20 feet back up on the roll.
Mattie does well on our walks. I can tell that she has not walked much on a leash before because she moves from side to side. She will bark a little when we see other dogs passing. She's small though so nothing that I can't keep easily under control. When my Missy barks out the window Mattie has made herself at home and is not shy about joining in. Neither of them are out of control. I simply yell "(Name"), no barking" and they will stop. I'd say she's a normal dog when it comes to barking. She's nothing like my Sheltie who is a major barker and about the same as my standard poodle.
Her hair is mostly wirey but there is some silky hair in there too. She is probably a mix of many breeds. I'm not an expert but I wonder if there is some Yorkie in there. She's got some of that Yorkie personality...smart, confident, fun and talkative.
She is a fun and young girl who is hoping she gets an application for her present this year!
Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue.
