Sunday

Baby arrived today and we've found him to be an adorable and easy going guy.  He was great in the car on our way home from picking him up.  He chose my youngest daughter (9) to cuddle up with and he rested in her lap the whole way.  We got home and gave him a bath and he was a trooper through it all.  No resisting.  We introduced him to our two dogs (22 and 28 pounds) and he was all tail wags.  No problems.  I then took him and my male dog, Miles, for a walk and he was very good on the leash.  He was interested in trying to chase after the birds and squirrels but he wasn't relentless about it.  He realized he wasn't going to get them and he then refocused on our walk.

Gosh he is a gorgeous guy.  He reminds my daughters and me of a stuffed animal.  He's got that kind of a face and coloring.  In fact my girls asked me..."Mom,who was the other dog we fostered that looked like a stuffed animal?"  That was Gus.  We had him about a year ago and he was a little black poodle-shihtzu mix.  So, Baby makes #2.   He has a dachshund body and head but a long bushy tail and soft, soft white wavy hair.  His ears are creamy tan color and he has a couple spots of that same color on his back.  A handsome guy who is guaranteed to turn some heads.  He weighs 11 pounds and seems to be at a good weight.  He's about 9.5 inches to the shoulder.  Seems to me like he's a low shedder.  I didn't see much hair when I gave him a bath and didn't get much on the brush when we combed him afterwards.

As you can tell from my description he is good with kids and you can see more of that in the video below.  Seems like he doesn't know how to go up and down a full set up stairs yet so my girls have been scooping him up and carrying him and he's all good with it.

He is resting now by the back door.  I disturbed him trying to get a picture but will include it below.

Here are some pictures from today.  I will post more as we get to know this adorable guy better.

I am having a hard time getting the video to load here so you can view it from this link (below)
