Macy is as sweet as they come. My male dog, Miles, will usually feel compelled to let the new foster dogs know that he is boss (he forgets that I'm boss). He will be a little snarky that first day or two. But with Macy he has been a gentleman. I think he understands that she is a submissive gal who right now just wants to get some love and some rest. It's just amazing how they can understand this from one another.
I can tell that Macy was neglected. She is flea free now but had them recently and it's left her with some patches of thin hair. Think if you were covered in mosquito bites and the only thing that gave you even a little bit of relief was to itch your skin raw. That's probably similar to how it was for her. This is not unusual. The rescue has seen many, many, many dogs like this. All it takes is a little TLC. Her hair should fill in. As I mentioned before, she's also thin and should gain a pound or two. Despite this neglect she loves people (child, adult, male, female). Her whole body wags when she sees someone coming. She also has the most expressive eyes. Gotta love those pug eyes. She looks at you as if she knows what you're thinking. She also cocks her head to the side when you're talking as if she's really, really trying to understand what you're saying. She slept in my lap last night for at least an hour. She was deep asleep and almost snoring a little. It makes me so happy to give her that ability to so peacefully relax without having to worry about getting enough to eat or scratching those darn fleas.
As I mentioned before, when that new owner comes and provides her with reliable love and care she will fall deeply in love with them. I can tell this from only knowing her a short while.
Now a commercial break to share a picture of Baby, now Bailey, who went to his forever home over the weekend. He is one lucky boy! He lives in Madison now with a new mom and dad.
Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue.
