Friday

We really love having Macy around.  She is a loving and sweet natured girl and we're seeing more and more of her happiness everyday.  She is eating all her kibble now without refusal so I'm well on the road to putting some weight on her.
She did not know how to do the staircase when she came.  This is common with many of our fosters.  But, being the smart girl she is she watched our dogs do it and within a day was doing the carpeted basement stairs and within two days was doing the wood stairs to the second floor.
We have not heard a peep out of her.  I'm sure she can bark but it seems that it's just not her nature to bark a lot.  My two dogs will bark at the squirrels or the people passing by outside.  Macy just looks around and then looks at me as if to say "what are they doing."  She's curious about what they're barking at but she doesn't join in.
We've had several storms over the last week with loud thunder and bright lightening and she's been fine with all of it.  She has been unaffected by it.
A few nights ago I was sitting out on the patio enjoying the break in the weather and she was curled up in my lap.  A rabbit decided it was a good time to go through the yard and Macy saw it.  Macy watched the rabbit and was focused on it but she didn't charge after it.  She hopped down from my lap and watched it more intently but again she didn't charge.  It was only after the bunny hopped out of the yard that she moved towards it and smelled the area where it had been.  So, what does this say?  Well, I again I think it points to her being pretty mild mannered and submissive.  Would she get along with someone's pet bunny?  That I'm not sure about...she is a dog after all.
During the day she likes to sleep in my chair while I'm working.  Yes, in my chair, while I'm sitting in it.  She squeezes in behind me and takes a nap.  She doesn't really get up except when I let the dogs out a few times during the day.  Today I decided that I needed a little more room in my chair so I moved the second office chair next to mine, laid a blanket on it and she curled up there.
She hasn't really played with my dogs yet.  I think because she had been suffering from some neglect she just needed a few days to relax, eat and feel secure.  My dogs haven't invited her to play though, so it's not like she's ignoring them.  We're starting to see the more playful side of her and I imagine in a few more days she'll be playing with my male, Miles.  But, from what we've seen of her so far I can say she definitely loves people and I think she prefers human companions to canine ones.
It's Friday night and she came on Sunday.  She's had only two accidents during that time and I think they were really our fault.  We didn't get her out after she ate.  I think that's a pretty good track record and I expect it will improve as we get better about keeping her on a regular schedule.  She is crate trained and has been no problem in the crate.   She whimpers a little when she first goes in but then is fine.  When we let her out of the crate she goes outside and does her business.  In the morning I've been letting her sleep with my husband while I get showered and  ready and she curls up with him and they catch that last hour of sleep together.
I'm including two videos.  One is of Macy in the yard with me.  You can see something caught her attention.  That was my daughter.  She saw and heard my daughter coming and you can see her excitement at seeing her.  The second video is of Macy and my daughter.  Then, finally a picture of her curled up next to me as I am typing this tonight.
Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue.
