Rascal and Macy

We've been having some trouble getting the petfinder site updated so it is really nice to have this blog to keep people updated.

Rascal had a very good second day.  My daughters had a lemonade stand going outside today and with all their frequent and excited trips back in the house (Mom, a sale!  Mom, we need more lemonade!) I put Rascal in the crate so he wouldn't get lost underfoot.  At first I put him in the crate up in the master bedroom but he didn't seem to like it.  He whined and barked.  So, I moved the crate to the family room and he was fine.  He seemed to be fine once he could see all the comings and goings and I could be sure he was in a safe spot.

Some pictures and videos are below.

Now, onto Miss Macy.  She has blossomed into one wonderful dog.  Her hair is filling in where it was bare.  See the picture on the right navigation bar (that's the before) and the pictures below.  What a difference.  She has gained three pounds and is now at a healthy 15.8 pounds.  She is so very good with our daughters and all three dogs here.  She is so much more lively and playful than when she first arrived.  All it took was some vet care, TLC and a little time.

Really, she would make a great dog for just about anyone.  She does love her people and is excited when they greet her but she settles down nicely.  She is becoming more and more playful and has now filled up her dog bed with a stuffed toy, a tennis ball and a bone.  These are things she wasn't interested in just a couple weeks ago.  She plays nicely with my daughters.  The girls have had lots of friends over now that it's summer and Macy has been great with each one of them.  Like I said, she's excited at first but then settles.  While she's not a puppy she can be a little "mouthy" like a puppy when she's excited at first but it's not bad.  We just tell her "no."

Leah and I took Macy to the local farmers market over the weekend and she did well.  She got some compliments on how cute she was.   She did bark when another dog passed by us but greeted another dog (a puppy) later on.

She is more confident on our walks and will pull a little more now but the girls (9 and 11) are able to walk her fine.  She is also barking a little more.  She is not the instigator (that's my dog Holly) but will join in now.  Really, it's good to see that she's blossomed into the dog God intended her to be and that she's doing things like playing with toys and barking some because she was doing none of these when she first came.  We just love this special girl.

She has the coloring of a pug but not the smushed face.  She has a wirey coat with some fluffiness to it in the front.  Like so many of the dogs at the rescue we don't know exactly what she is but our guess is maybe pug, border terrier, maybe some beagle and then a little who-knows-what.  One thing is for sure though, she has a lot of love to give and will be a treasured member of the family.

Rascal and Miles napping.  Miles is a miniature poodle mix and about 22 pounds.  That gives you some sense of Rascal's size

This is Macy and Leah.  Rascal trying to get in there for some lovin' too

This is Macy after a walk. That is why she's panting.   It is so cute the way she cocks her head when you talk to her
