Well, supposedly Disney is the happiest place on earth...and sure..it's a happy place. My girls love it. But, in my book, the dog park on a beautiful day is the happiest place on earth...and there are no lines!
I decided to take Miles and Missy to the dog park on Sunday. The weather was beautiful, about 72 degrees and slightly overcast. Perfect. The place where we go is about 70 acres. It's fully fenced but has high grasses and some wooded areas. The walking paths are the only "cut" areas in the place. I've only taken one other foster dog there, Chevy. Because it's a huge place I have to be pretty sure that the dog is going to stay close and that I won't lose them in all the grasses and trees (sorry little guys).
So, I packed up some irresistible treats (I cooked cubed beef (for stew) in the crock pot for 3 hours on high...let it cool..and cut it up into bite size pieces. I freezed what I wasn't going to use right away) and off we went.
Missy did great. She was very interested in all the smells at the dog park. She was very good about politely greeting all the dogs that were there and she was pretty good about coming when I called her. I did have my pack of treats to entice her...which helped. She stayed pretty close except when she found an interesting smell that carried her off. She also followed another person and their "pack" at least once...but I called her and reminded her she was with us. It seemed like she wan't sure at first whether she could go through all the tall grass...she would stand on the other side and look confused as to how to get back to us. But, I think after she saw Miles race through a time or two she got it and soon she was bounding through the tall grass as well. I just loved seeing the "smile" on her face when she really got moving. I don't know for sure, but I guess that this may have been her first trip to the dog park. I hope she has many more in her future. We only walked about a third of the park and we stayed out of the wooded area. But, now that I know she is good we can expand our walk next time.
On our way home we stopped at the dog food store and I took her in with me. She did great in there also.
We continue to watch her water consumption and she's doing well. No accidents as long as we don't let her drink too much. Don't know...but maybe she didn't get water when she needed it in the past so she drinks as much as she can when she can? Maybe.
Here are some pictures from Sunday

Out of order...but this was the ride back home. She likes to put her paws up on the center console and watch what's going on. |

This was the exit at the dog park. She looks tired and happy! |
