We are heading out of town for a few days so Mr Simon will be at the doggy day care. He does well there. He has a fun time playing with the other dogs.
We noticed a couple accidents in the house earlier in the week. So, Simon is not 100% yet like I thought. He's close but needs reinforcement of doing things outside.....praise, treats, etc.
His prior foster noted him guarding a pig's ear treat. My own male dog gets that way too so I always give him raw hides and bully sticks in his crate. He doesn't like to share so I take the stress out of it for him by allowing those treats in his crate. The other option would be for work with my dog on training him to "drop it" and "leave it." I haven't done that but that's an option and would also be an option for Simon. Because I don't have those things out and about in the house I haven't tried them with Simon. Like I've mentioned before though he shares all the toys just fine with the others. I have out lots of things including Nylabones and he enjoys chomping on those.
He is a smart guy and has done well with the obedience I've done with him. He will continue to benefit from obedience and just general training. It's good mental stimulation for him and it teaches him what's expected.
Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue!!! :-)
