I had of running around to do yesterday so I did need to crate her. She fussed at first and was still fussing when I left the house but my husband said when he got home she was quiet. She slept all last night in the crate without a fuss. Crates maybe new for her but it seems that once she settles in she is fine.
She did all her potties outside yesterday. Today she had one accident but all her other potties have been outside. In my book that's a good track record for the first day. Think about it...within a short period of time she was found wandering on the side of the road, was rescued, spayed, was transported in a van from AL with about 20 other dogs and has now been asked to settle into a new home, with new dogs and with whole new routine. Pretty darn good in my book.
Last night someone down the street was setting off fireworks (again) and like usual my two poodles ran inside for cover. But, Waverly was good. The noises didn't startle her and she stayed outside with me. She was curious but they didn't seem to bother her.
Today, she's shown that she can share toys nicely and wait her turn for treats. She is playful and was tossing the toys around and catching them and shaking them furiously. After just a couple minutes of playing each time she settled down and rested. Today, she slept next to my desk while I worked. I just love when the foster dogs begin to settle in and can relax. It's almost as if you can hear their sigh of relief when they know they are secure and can just rest.
I do think she is part dachshund. She has a lo-o-ong body that's about 16 inches from her chest to her rump. She has wide and sturdy feet and legs that seem short for that long body. She is about 12 inches tall and weighs just under 18 pounds. She is very cute!
She has a great smile and I hope I got a good picture of it today. If not I will keep trying. She is a happy girl and very happy to greet people. She does jump up and will offer lots of kisses but she does eventually settle. In fact, she's sleeping beneath my feet as I type this now.
It appears that she recently weaned some puppies. With as beautiful as this girl is I'll bet those were some darn cute puppies!
I will add more info as we get to know this lovely girl more.
Here is a hodge podge of pictures from yesterday and today.
