I do work from home so I get her out several times during the day. But sometimes she just doesn't go. I guess she knows she doesn't need to. It seems like she's not fond of the wet grass and after a rain or in the early morning she is hesitant to do her business in the grass in the backyard. There have been a couple times where I just knew she had to go (like first thing in the morning) so I put a leash on her and walked her out front and Voila! she did all her business. She seems to understand that the leash means business and she's good about going pretty quickly.
We have an exchange student that stays with us on her breaks from college and she came home last night. Waverly greeted her enthusiastically and gave her lots of kisses. She does love people. My exchange student agrees that she seems young.
I've mentioned before that she is good with my daughters, 10 and 12 years old.
She does enjoy her toys. She entertains herself and will go find a toy and toss it up and bounce around and catch it. She has a stuffed mouse that she likes to carry around with her. My mini-poodle, Miles has tried to play with her but they haven't really gotten into it yet. When Miles wants to play he barks, which to me sounds like he wants to kill the other dog, and often times it takes awhile for the foster dog to catch on. I can tell Miles likes her and wants to play with her. I bet in another few days they'll be having fun together.
She is much better about not whining in the crate. She never whines at night (never really did) but if I put her in the crate during the day because I need to run an errand she will fuss a little. But, it's much less and I imagine as she continues to get comfortable with the crate and begins to understand that we are coming home it will be even less.
I have left her out of the crate a couple times when I've been gone for just 30 minutes and she did fine. No messes. No mischief.
She has a very soft poodle coat. It will need to be groomed. It's hard for me to tell but she may shed ever so slightly. I had on a black t-shirt yesterday and I noticed a few fine white hairs after I was holding her. However, even a pure poodle is going to lose hair like a human. So, it's hard to tell. If she sheds, it will be very slight in my opinion.
She hasn't barked too much. But when she does it's very cute. She barks when she's excited and gives a good old "Aroooo." I guess that's the doxie in her. So cute!
Really she is a wonderful girl. I wish I could keep them all for myself!
Here's a video where I am giving them all treats. You can tell that she is polite. I don't think she really knows any commands yet. She's just following what the other dogs are doing. But, she is good about waiting her turn.
Okay, this video won't load on the web-site here. So, you'll have to click the link below to view.
