She continues to use the bell on the back door. She rings it to be let out. I don't know that she's fully connected that with doing her business because sometimes she does and other times she just sniffs around. But, she's getting the housebreaking thing. Today she's been accident free. I believe she may have been accident free yesterday as well. I do work from home so I let her out several times during the day but for a puppy she's doing very, very well in my book. Even before the last two days she's only had a couple accidents in the house. Again, very good. She's been good about doing her business on our walks. She also does her business in the back yard. When she does her #2 in the yard she does seem to prefer a little privacy and will go under bush or tree. A girl needs her privacy sometimes after all.
She and Missy have started to play. They play bow and then race around. It's very cute to watch.
I did some vacuuming in the house today and she was fine with it. She was curious and followed me for part of the time but then left me and the vacuum alone to get the work done.
Monday night my standard poodle, Missy, had a run in with a skunk in our yard. Thankfully as Missy ran off to chase the thing that was rustling in the hostas Charcoal stayed near me and did not get involved. Fortunately Missy did not get sprayed straight on so we don't have any lingering smell on her or in the house. BTW- if you do ever have a dog get skunked I've found that the following mixture works the best. Nothing is perfect but this is the best I've used and we seem to get skunked about every 6 months around here.

Charcoal seems to have a great energy level. She is a puppy and does like her toys and will entertain herself most of the time. However, she plays for a few minutes and then rests. She's funny when she rests because she literally flops herself onto the floor with a sigh. So cute. Today while I was working she chose to take a nap in one of the play tunnels that the girls had in the basement. You know, it's a nylon tunnel that kids can crawl through. I imagine she felt pretty comfortable in there. It was probably like a long dog house.
My dog, Miles, does agility so I always ask myself whether the foster would be a good agility dog. You know, I think Charcoal would be very good. She is smart, as evidenced by her bell ringing. She's not fearful of new things, as shown by her willingness to get in the tunnel and sleep in there. And, she's a good size and has the right amount of energy. Even, if she never does agility though she will make a great dog for some family. She's a puppy though so make sure you have the time to continue her housebreaking training, to socialize and exercise her, etc. Someone had completed an application for her recently but never followed up with the rescue. Maybe they had second thoughts about a puppy. Maybe the whole family wasn't in agreement before the application was submitted. I don't know why they didn't follow up. But, this means she's still available which is very lucky for some other family. Charcoal's brother and sister have already been adopted. Some families saw what great dogs they were. She too is just as great...plus even more so...in my opinion.
Here is a video from today and a couple pictures.
