Pictures and video

Lucy is a happy, happy girl.  She loves everyone she meets.  My sister-in-law and nephew came over yesterday and she jumped up to meet them and gave them lots of kisses when they bent down to pet her.  For a little girl she can jump high.  She can just about jump to my waist and I'm about 5-4.

She loves to cuddle and has been my TV buddy for the last few evenings.  It's so nice to have someone to cuddle with because my three aren't really interested.  Lucy is there to warm my lap as soon as I sit down!

She probably hasn't walked on a leash before.  It seems new to her and I've gotten tangled up a few times.  But, she will get it.  She does bark when she sees other dogs on our walk.  She is wonderful with all three of my dogs and with our former foster dog Mattie so she's not being mean.  I haven't fostered too many Yorkies but I do think the barking is probably a Yorkie thing.  She's probably telling me "hey, there are dogs over there....there are dogs over there."   Yorkie's are talkative and like to be heard.   Plus, she's young and hasn't been trained yet.  Training her to focus on the handler and not on the dogs around her is something that could be done.

She is food motivated and has been doing almost all of her business outside.  I reward her when she does as a way of telling her "good job."  She's still learning but she's a young, smart girl and she will get it.  There's a great little book by Patricia McConnell called "Way To Go" about housebreaking.  Positive reinforcement is the name of the game!

She is great in the crate at night.  No fussing at all.  When I go out during the day I do put her in the crate and she does whine.  We're working on that.  She's quiet when I get home so I know she's not whining the whole time.

I took some more video of her playing and I didn't lose the video this time (Yeah!).  Click on the link below for the video.  As I've said before she makes us smile.  She has such a good time playing all by herself it's so fun to watch.  I have lots of toys out for her so she can take her pick.  You can tell she likes the mini-Kong toy we have.  She likes how it bounces when she drops it.

Resting after playing

Really resting

Found a sunny spot

Working on her tan

Napping on the sofa while I was working

Getting sleepy

Fully asleep

Back to her really relaxed position.  I love when she does this.  It shows that she is a happy girl who is comfortable with her surroundings.
