I don't know that he's housebroken. We just haven't had him out in the house for more than an hour here or hour there so it's hard to know but he's been good. He is good in the crate and does not fuss. He's not wild about going in the crate and I do need to nudge him in there but he goes in and settles down for a nap quickly. Good boy.
The receptionist and the vets at the clinic loved him (and he loved them). The vet commented that he had a dog just like him when he was growing up. And, the other vets (visiting vets come to the clinic to study under the vet that runs the clinic) were surprised he was a rescue and that he was 4 years old (he seems younger).
I would say he's a medium energy dog or even a little higher. He is good in the crate but when I let him out he wants to run. Part of that is due to being crated and part of that is being in a new place with new smells...and he wants to go check it all out. I do think though that's he's one who will really enjoy a regular long walk or maybe even a run (I run with my dog Miles who is the same size). That said, he does settle down and snuggle and watch TV with my daughter and I at night. While he gets excited he does have an off switch.
So, how big is he? He's about 17 inches to the shoulder and about 23 pounds. A nice medium sized dog. Does he shed? Yes he does. He has a wirey coat and does shed. He probably won't need professional grooming but just a regular bath and maybe an occasional trim of his beard.
Here is a video and a few pictures. You can see he takes treats nicely in the video (some cheese was all I had on hand)
Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue!
