Miss Audrey Doing Great

Miss Audrey has been here two weeks now and she's doing just great.  She does all her potties outside.  We have a fenced yard and she's very good about going outside, even in this bitter cold, doing her thing quickly and coming back in.  She has never had an accident in the house.  I work from home so she gets out several times a day and she's always been good about waiting until then to do her business.

Audrey strikes me as a gentle and sweet soul.  When ever someone enters the room she just lights up and her whole back end moves from side to side.  It's as if she's saying "Oh, look who's here!  I'm so glad to see you."  She follows me around the house during the day but she's not "on top" of me.  She's within eye sight but usually just laying down resting somewhere near by.

Not only is she super sweet but she's playful too.  She has tried numerous times to try and get my dog Holly to play.  Holly is 15 and not interested in playing and Audrey has been very good about respecting Holly's non-interest.  Audrey will grab a soft toy by herself and play with it.  She will also grab a ball or a bone and play with those as well.  It's so great to see her happy and cheerful and feeling good.  Today she even grabbed the ball of yarn my daughter was using for a crochet project.  Audrey began tossing the ball around.  It was very cute.  We did not get upset because my daughter did leave the yarn on the floor and the soft ball of yarn was just like a soft toy.

She is a gorgeous girl with a white coat of hair.  Her hair is course and she does shed.  At the tips of her ears she has little whispy hairs that hang down longer than her ears.  She has beautiful eyes.  I am not sure what she is.  She is probably a mix of many types of dogs, most Fluffy Dogs are.  I'm no expert for sure but maybe there is some Springer Spaniel in there.  No matter what though, she is gorgeous and people will be asking you what she is (because they will want another one just like her).

I trimmed her nails yesterday and she was very good for me.  She sat patiently while I did it and did not fuss.  She really loves people.  Like I've said she is happy to see everyone.  My husband is not really a dog person but still when he comes into the room she is so happy and goes and greets him politely.  My daughters had a friend over today and Audrey was perfect. She greeted the friend politely and cheerfully.

Audrey has gone through heartworm treatment.  She's all done with the treatment and now just needs to rest for a couple weeks.  So, no walks for her right now.  Once she's done with her rest period she just needs a monthly heartworm preventative like any other dog.  The heart worms are gone, the preventative will ensure  they stay that way.  And, in fact, she only needs to be on the monthly preventative for 24 months.  After that you could use it just in the warmer months if you'd like.  Because she's supposed to stay relaxed I have introduced her only to my senior dog, Holly.  My other two can be a little crazy at times.  My male (mini poodle) can be dominant and might give Audrey a hard time and my female (standard poodle) will want to play, play, play.  When Audrey is in my finished basement by herself (maybe 2 hrs at a time) she is fine.  She chewed up a few tissues that my daughter left on the sofa but that's been it.  She has left everything alone.  She also doesn't fuss when she's in the basement.  She finds a soft spot to lay and takes a nap.  When she hears my standard poodle barking though she does get nervous and will bark kind of a soft, nervous bark.  I don't blame her for being nervous. She hears this large dog but doesn't know where she is.  Aside from a couple barks while in the back yard that's really all I've heard her bark.

Take a look at the pictures and videos below.  Some dogs, and Audrey is no exception, put their tail down when you're trying to take a picture.  I don't blame them.  Here you are holding this thing in front of your face that makes loud clicking noises. They can't quite figure it out.  So, sometimes she looks sad in her pictures.  She's definitely a sweet soul but also a happy and cheerful one.  Hopefully that comes through in some of the pictures.

Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking of adding a rescue dog to your home.

She loves to find the sunny spot in the family room.  I leave a couple of dog beds and some blankets in that spot

Half in and half out of the bed

Here's where she got the ball of yarn and took it to her bed

I'm sure one blanket or one dog bed will be fine in her forever home.   I have several dogs so I have many (too many probably)

So cute
