Angel continues to do just great. While she can be shy at first meeting she is a happy girl who wants to love and have fun at the core. I'm including a video of her and my dog Miles playing below. Miles doesn't get along with everyone, he's kind of a crabby guy, but Angel won him over and they've had a fun time playing together. It makes me smile when I see him enjoying himself. Angel plays nicely.
Angel also does well on our walks. This weekend we did LONG walk that probably ended up being about 3 or 4 miles. She did wonderful. She still "hops" occasionally when we're out walking but I notice it less and I never see it in the house or in the yard. For some reason her gait just has her do an occasional hop when she's walking at a fast clip.
She is well behaved on our walks and doesn't bark at any passers-by or at any other dogs. Very good girl.
I work from home and I get the dogs out every few hours. As long as I make sure she does her #1 and #2 first thing in the morning (sometimes she runs back inside before she's done) and she gets out those couple times during the day she's good. If I'm ever running errands during the day I do put her in the crate and she is good in there and that also prevents any accidents in the house from happening. When my daughters have been in charge there have been some accidents but I don't think my girls are as good about getting the dogs out as they say they are :-)
Angel will join my dog Missy in barking. Angel is not the instigator but if Missy is going to be barking out the window Angel likes to join in. Her bark kind of reminds me of a schnauzer as she can add a little howl to the end. It's very cute and reminds me of the schnauzers my family had growing up. So, what breed is Angel? Well, we don't know for sure. I can tell you that her hair is super soft and fine. I haven't noticed shedding but my guess is that she does shed at least some. She's been here a couple weeks and I've already had to trim some of the hair around her eyes so she could see so she's definitely got some non-shedding breeds mixed in there. She has kind of an athletic build like a poodle but her hair is not really curly. The rescue is guessing silky terrier because of her super soft coat and that could be. I might even guess West Highland White Terrier...and maybe that's where the bark comes from. What ever she is though she's DARN CUTE! Those big round eyes against that silky light colored coat are adorable.
She is a young girl so do expect some puppy behaviors. When she gets excited she will nibble at my heels...like when I'm walking into the kitchen to feed the dogs. She doesn't seem to know any commands so she's a clean slate in that department. That said I haven't noticed her chewing things she shouldn't, she does like fluffy dog toys, and she's good about sleeping quietly through the night in her crate.
Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue!
