Praline has been with us about a month now and she has been a great guest. She is a nice size at about 25 pounds and has a beautiful look. Her hair is super soft and she does shed some. We believe she's part sheltie. She's been doing all her potties outside. I work from home so the dogs get out several times during the day and she's been good about keeping to our schedule. She sleeps on the floor in my daughter's room at night without a peep.
Praline found herself positive for heartworms and in a shelter in Alabama. Thankfully Fluffy Dog Rescue heard about her plight and arranged for heartworm treatment. Now that she's gone through treatment she just needs to remain on a monthly heartworm preventative like Heartgard for 24 months. Easy peasy. It's just too bad that her prior home didn't ensure that she got the inexpensive, chewable pill each month.
Praline has been very good in our home. She has not gotten into any mischief. She has only been chewing on the chew toys. While I work during the day she will either sleep near my desk or will find her crate and take a nap. She's not afraid of the vacuum cleaner and will steer clear of where it's headed. She is unsure of strangers at first but with some treats and a few minutes she does warm up. She goes in the crate for me with a simple command of "go kennel." Really an easy girl to have around.
She is good on a leash and has been good with all that we see while walking through our suburban neighborhood...bikes, walkers, dogs, baseball games, cars, etc.
She was great at the vet when going for her hearworm treatments. My vet fell in love with her. She was good for her shots and exam and impressed everyone she met.
Praline does great with my 17 pound terrier, Winnie. They hang out together and chase each other in the back yard. Praline also did well with a former foster I had, Lani. Both Winnie and Lani are submissive. My other two resident dogs like to be in charge and Praline likes to be in charge too so I just keep them separated. Hey, a girl is entitled to pick her friends and Praline likes those who are easy going and she'd be just as happy being an only dog.
