Friday

Happy Friday!

Here we are at the end of a week with Scooby.  She continues to be a fun, well mannered and happy girl.  Her routine the last few mornings has been that after my daughters are at school and I'm settling into my office and my work that she gets ...what we call... "the crazies."  She rolls around a bit, having a great time next to me, and then will run a couple laps in the basement.  My daughters think it's so much fun when the dogs do it.  They will even ask me to make the dogs do "crazy dog"  sometimes.  It's all that happiness and a little of her 1 yr old energy that is bursting out of her.  It's very cute.

Today I didn't have time to walk the dogs in the morning.  And, by about 10:30 I could tell that Scooby was ready to go.  It had been more than 24 hours since she had been walked..other than in the back yard.  I could tell she was restless.  The girls had left some toys out, like a toy telescope, toy binoculars, etc and Scooby found them.  She picked up one item and sat down by me ready to start chewing.  I took it away from her and gave her a nylabone.  I didn't realize that other things were still out so she went and got the next item and brought that one over.  I wasn't upset.  How's she suppose to know the difference between a plastic-y chew toy and a plastic telescope?  Rather, it was a signal to me that she needed some exercise.  So, I took her and Miles out for a walk down to the park.  I let them run in the tennis courts a few minutes and we were back in less than 30 minutes.  When we got home she settled in and slept most of the afternoon.  I mention this all as a reminder that she is a young dog and just like most young dogs  she will need some stimulation.  I remember when Miles was younger and we needed to make a point to play fetch in the evening with him.  He's probably 2 and a half now and he doesn't need that everyday.  If you've had a dog before you may have forgotten what it was like when they were under 1 or 2.  They are like young children, they need play and some activity.  For me, I really like having an excuse to take a break from work, to walk the dogs and to get some exercise myself.  It's a win-win!

Scooby and Miles are playing very nicely together.  I love how Scooby tugs on his ears and tries to get him to start playing.  It reminds me of our female dog Holly and how she used to do that very same thing to our male dog at the time, Dusty, when she was much younger...probably about 1 year old.

Some pictures below are of the gang (Holly, Miles and Scooby.  Pardon the glare, it was a very sunny morning) and Scooby resting in the kitchen in the afternoon.

As you're looking at pictures don't miss the one of Scooby before her haircut.  She'll be a true fluffy dog when her hair grows in a little more...and a good looking one at that.  Remember too that she'll need brushing and grooming just like any fluffy dog.

Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue!!
