Lucy's First Day

Lucy has been here about 24 hours now.  So, I can tell you a little bit more.  She is a sweet and happy little girl.  She seems to know "sit" but is not so good about keeping her butt down (see the video below).  She is playful and she and my other foster Mattie are having a grand time wrestling and chasing each other. (Mattie has an application in process and should be going to her new home next week) She seems outgoing and will approach people with a wagging tail.  My younger daughter met Lucy for the first time today and got a nice greeting from her.

The snow doesn't seem to bother her.  Since she's from Alabama and because she's still a puppy I'm pretty sure this is the first she's seen of snow.  She's had a fun time running around in it with Mattie though.

She's doing well with all the dogs I have here.  My three which are Missy (40 pound poodle), Miles (22 pound poodle mix) and Holly (28 pound Sheltie mix) and with 13 pound Mattie.

She slept soundly in the crate in our room all night.  Not a peep from her.  She knows how to do her business outside and did do it outside yesterday.  I let the dogs out about 8:30 last night and put her in the crate about 9:30.  As I said she slept all night and her crate was dry when I woke the dogs up at 6:30am.  So, she can definitely hold it when she needs to.  As soon as I let her out of the crate though she squatted and started to pee.  So, I quickly scooped her up (she stopped peeing) and got her outside.  She sniffed around  bit and then did her business.  So, again, she is showing me she can hold it.  The dogs all ate their breakfasts and then I let them out again about 45 minutes later and she did her #2.  Good girl.

She is gorgeous.  She has silky soft hair and her one ear kind of sticks up when she's really focused on what you're saying.  To me it seems like her tail has been cropped.  Growing up we had schnauzers and 40 years ago it was customary to crop their tails.  Her tail reminds me of those schnauzers I grew up with, it's maybe 2 inches long.

She knows how to do the stairs and has been good about coming when I call her.

If you keep reading the prior posts you'll see that Lucy was given up by her Alabama owners because they could not housebreak her.  Luckily Fluffy Dog Rescue came to the rescue and now she has an opportunity to find an owner that will not give up on this 10 month old puppy.

Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue!
