I introduced him to my standard poodle, Missy, the other day and he did great. They sniffed and wagged tails and all was good. Missy wants to play with him but she's almost double his size. He wants to play too and he'll play bow and "talk" but hasn't really engaged in running around yet. He's a vocal guy...not a lot of barking...but he'll grunt, and grrrrr, and almost talk. It's cute.
It's too bad we don't have a play mate here his size. He tries to play with Holly (our sheltie) but at 14 years old Holly is past her playing days and she shrugs off his very cute attempts. Synder will play-bow in front of Holly and will then roll over on his back. He's a very good boy that way.
Miles is my male mini poodle-mix. He is about Snyder's size but I haven't introduced them. We joke that Miles likes to eat other males that come into his home (especially larger males) but it's not far from the truth. Miles just isn't nice about sharing his space with other males so I keep him away from Snyder. In the 6 weeks or so that I've known Snyder I'd guess that Snyder would be fine with Miles. He's a happy guy who has shown me some submissive moves (like rolling over on his back for Holly).
Snyder loves people. So, if you don't have a dog in your house and you don't have kids in your house no worries. As long as there is people he'll be fine (he, he). My daughters and I had an at-home movie night a few days ago and Snyder kept each one of us company for awhile. He started out on my lap and rolled over on his tummy so I could give him a belly rub. He just about fell asleep. Then, he moved to each daughter (2) and then he laid on the floor next to us. He was good about not getting into the popcorn. He certainly wanted some but understood that it was for the humans only.
He's a good boy looking for his forever home. Please keep reading for more info about him.
Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue!
