Wanda Adopted

Wanda was with us about 3 weeks.  Of the 40 foster dogs we've had hers was truly the most touching adoption.  A couple in WI contacted the rescue and indicated that they wanted to adopt an older dog.  They had always adopted older dogs and were happy to open their home to a senior in need.  They said that they would like a female and perhaps a lab.  Well, in about 15 minutes the rescue sent a photo of Wanda to them and they said "yes."  Wanda found herself in a  shelter in Alabama with little hope at getting out, see she was about 8 years old, heartworm positive and had a growth on her forehead.  If it weren't for this family, her life surely would have been sacrificed to make room for younger and healthier dogs.  Wanda came here to Illinois and we nursed her through her heartworm treatment.  She was wonderful with our other foster dog, Keeva, and we found her to be a gentle and well mannered sweet soul.  Truly, it was hard to say good-bye to her yesterday as we handed her off to her new "dad."  Saving souls like Wanda is truly what rescue is about.  Thanks for reading and thanks for thinking rescue!
